Charles E. Gooden was born on March 19, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska, and passed in his home on August 21, 2021, in Branson, Missouri. He was the son of Lou Edward and Elsie (Nerad) Gooden. He was joined in marriage November 16, 1964, to Betty Rageth.

Charles moved to Salina, Kansas, at the age of 7 and lived there for over thirty years, graduating from Salina (now Salina Central) High in Salina, Kansas, working as a salesman and route man for Coke, Tony’s, and Schwan’s. Charles and his wife, Betty, owned the Shop Kwik convenience store in Mondovi, Wisconsin, after leaving Kansas. He moved to Denver, Colorado, for a few years, and then semi-retired in Branson, Missouri, living in Branson since 2000. Charles worked at the Engler block and Grand Village. After retiring Charles loved spending time with family and going weekly to the casino on the bus so he could spend time with his friends.

Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; his daughter, Deb McGarry (husband Kevin) of Willard, Mo; grandson, Quinn McGarry (wife Becca) of Republic, MO; granddaughter, Kylia Harrington (husband Alex) of Ozark, MO; great grandson to be, Kayce, also of Ozark, MO; sister, Elaine Shaw (husband Allen) of Spokane Valley, WA; and brother, Greg Gooden, of Salina, KS; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Charles’ name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org.) A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. August 30, 2021, at the Branson RecPlex Room C, with Pastor Curtis Zachary officiating.
