Lewis Edward Carroll, age 85, of Forsyth, Missouri,
passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. He entered this world December 23, 1933, in
Peoria, Illinois, the son of Dorothy Lillian Carroll. He was joined in marriage
March 13, 1974, to Carol Jean Payne. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction
of Cremations of the Ozarks.
Lew proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a
patriot to the bone. Lew volunteered at many places: Lions Club, American
Legion, Honor Guard, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Korean
War Veterans. He was a lifelong learner. Lew was known as Santa Claus for the Forsyth
and Branson area for over 15 years. He was a member of the Branson Gospel
Sundays Church and attended faithfully. Lew knew everyone and everyone knew
Lew. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Lew is preceded in death by his mother; 4 brothers; 3
sisters; first wife, Anneliese; and a stepson, Kevin.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Carroll of
the home; daughter, Marianne Schnelle of Springfield, Missouri; son, Lewis
(Cynthia) E. Carroll II of Normal, Illinois; son, Fredrich (Cathleen) Carroll
of Springfield, Illinois; daughter, Kristal (Ramon) Marquez of Aurora,
Colorado; daughter, Valerie (Marty) Gotcher of Spring, Texas; son, Walter
(Maria) Carroll of San Bernardino, California; stepson, Kenneth Burg of
Chatham, Illinois; stepdaughter, Karen (Ronald) Alewelt of Chatham, Illinois;
several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
No formal services are planned. Lew will be inurned at a
later time in the Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. In lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lew’s name to the veteran’s
