Early in the morning on March 17, 2019, Bennie Joseph Schade passed away peacefully in the home he built that also served as his deer blind in Galena, Missouri. Born and raised in Pocahontas, Iowa, Bennie graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1968. He earned his bachelor’s in Engineering from Iowa State University in 1973. During his career he achieved many notable accomplishments, including multiple patents.

On February 28, 1973, Bennie married Sarah Kay Dean, who was also a graduate of Iowa State University. From 1973 to 1992, they lived in Osceola, Iowa, and then moved to Lebanon, Tennessee, where they lived for ten years.

Bennie achieved numerous accomplishments trapshooting. He was a Founding Member and President of the Iowa State University Trapshooting team. In 1990, he was the Iowa State Singles Grand Champion (200x200) and in 1991, was the Central Zone Handicap Grand Champion (98x100). Bennie was rated AA27AA, the highest rating available at the time. He coached his son Todd Schade to many national titles and All-American team selections, including Sub Junior Co-Captain of the All-American Trapshooting Team in 1991. He also formed and coached the Cedar City Straights Youth Trap Team, who competed at the national level.

In addition to his lifelong love of trapshooting, Bennie also enjoyed fishing, building guns, working in his shop and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sarah Schade; a son, Todd Joseph (Dawn) Schade of Branson, Missouri; and grandkids: Sophia Genevieve Schade, Colby Broderick Teaster, and Samuel “Sam” Robert Teaster. He is also survived by three sisters: Linda White of Lebanon, Tennessee; Sheryl (Dennis) Hanrahan of La Habra, California; and Karen (William) Christensen of Lebanon, Tennessee. Most importantly, Bennie will be missed by his devoted cat, Jenny.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Carl Schade and Genevieve Catherine (Thoma) Schade; brother-in-law, Richard White; and nephew, Mark White.

A celebration of life in honor of Bennie will be held June 22, 2019. Our family would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support.
