Shirley Ann (Raymond) Gordon, age 67, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away November 17, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born April 17, 1951, in South Park, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Louis “Bud” and Martha “Jean” (Sullivan) Raymond. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Despite her own health battles, Shirley unconditionally devoted her life to her work as a registered nurse. She began her career in a children’s hospital with cancer patients. After moving to Missouri, Shirley started her 31-year career with Mercy St. John’s and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her first role was as the night nursing supervisor and the then later as a cancer research nurse with Cancer Research of the Ozarks. Throughout her years as a nurse, she cared deeply for her patients and was emotionally connected with them.

Shirley appreciated a myriad of pastimes, spending time with her beloved pets, collecting David Winter cottages, reading, watching spooky movies and researching family genealogy. Favorite music included the Beach Boys, Cher, Conway Twitty, and Celine Dion. Shirley’s deepest joy in life was time with family. She shared her love of travel with her daughter and family, creating lasting memories. Whether with her family, her pets, her patients, or a stranger, Shirley showed love and compassion. Memories of her will be deeply treasured.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis “Bud” Raymond and her brother-in-law, Pete St. Peter.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Martha “Jean” Raymond of Hollister, Missouri; her daughter, Valerie (Andrew) Demetriou of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; a sister, Carol Jean “Jeannie” St. Peter of Hollister, Missouri; and a brother, Louis “Buddy” (Lynn) Raymond of Protem, Missouri.
