Carol Lee Forste, age 87, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at home October 28, 2018. She was born December 20, 1930, in Nixa, Missouri, the daughter of Jack and Dora (Flood) Keltner. Carol was joined in marriage April 1, 1984, to Stanley Forste. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Carol graduated from Springfield Sr. High in 1948. Early in her career, she worked for Zenith for several years. She had a passion for square dancing, which is how she and Stanley met. In March 1986, Carol started Forste Square Dance Fashions and ran it until the late 1990s. After closing her business, she did alterations for GLO Cleaners. Carol was a wonderful seamstress, designed square dance clothing. In 2004, she had a stroke. Stanley was by her side, caring for her until the end. Most of all, Carol loved her family, friends, square dancing and round dancing. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and Phillip Stanley Roberson from her previous marriage.

Carol is survived by her husband Stanley Forste of the home; husband from previous marriage, Jerry Frank Smothers of Willard, Missouri; daughter, Sandra J. (Roberson) Kidd of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchild, Robert Drew Kidd and his wife Lora Anne Kidd; great-grandchildren: Christopher Micheal Kidd, Cheyenne Nichole Kidd, Corey Evan Kidd; grandchild, John Richard Kidd and his fiancé Samantha Rea; and great-grandchild, Alyssa Gayle Kidd. She is also survived by daughter, Terri Lynn (Smothers) White and her husband Ricky White of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Other surviving family members are son, James Allan Roberson and his wife Karen Roberson of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchild, Cheri Dawn Roberson; great-grandchild, August Phillip Roberson; Grandchild, Dr. LaGena Rosa and her husband Kyle Rosa; great-grandchildren: Ethan Rosa and Kage Rosa; grandchild, Jamie Carol Peeples and her husband Chad Peeples; and great-grandchildren: Landon Peeples; Joseph Peeples; JoAnna Peeples; and Lakyn Peeples. Carol is survived by stepchildren Lee Forste and wife Lordes of Ft. Myers, Florida, “Amy” Jye Forste of Midland, Texas, and Jerry Forste and wife Kathy of Lee Summit, Missouri; her step grandchildren: Leomaria Hernandez, Lenny Hernandez, Ariel Forste and wife Chelsea, Nikolay Forste; and her step great-grandchildren: Amien Marshall, Samiaya Hernandez, and Carleigh Forste; sister, Annette (Keltner) Sellers; and brothers, Thomas Keltner and Robert Keltner.   

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, with a square dance to follow at Northview Center, 301 E. Talmage Street, Springfield, Missouri. Inurnment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions in memory of Carol may be made to Habitat for Humanity www.habitat.org .
