Paul Douglas Gies, age 68, of Branson West, Missouri, passed away October 27, 2018. He entered this world January 11, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Walter and Kathleen (Farrell) Gies. He was joined in marriage August 13, 1981, to Phyllis Jiles. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Paul proudly served our country for two tours during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vietnam Vets of American Post 119 in Kimberling City, Missouri. Paul enjoyed golfing, bass fishing, and being in the outdoors. He was very active in Boy Scout Troop 200, Nixa, Missouri. He was very proud to be Irish and was of the Catholic Faith. Most of all, he was a great husband and dad. He will be dearly missed.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Roy Walter Gies and Owen Patrick Gies.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Phyllis Gies; two sons: Paul Anthony (Rachel) Gies of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Martin Andrew (Danielle) Gies of Santa Clarita, California; a granddaughter, Kirstin Gies; and sister, Donna (Norb) Kammerer of Memphis, Michigan.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018, at Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church, Kimberling City, Missouri with Rev. Joji Vincent officiating. Inurnment will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions in memory of Paul may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America Post 119 or to Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church.
