LaVerne "Queenie" (Voyles) Hatridge

October 20, 1934 - June 12, 2018
Age: 83
Residence: Galena, MO
Formerly of: Desloge, MO

LaVerne “Queenie” Hatridge, R.N., age 83, of Galena, Missouri, passed away June 12, 2018. She entered this world October 20, 1934, in Desloge, Missouri, the daughter of Glena Mae (Moyer) Voyles. Raised in Flat River, Missouri, she was joined in marriage February 28, 1957, to Terry Hatridge. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

LaVerne was an accomplished registered nurse. She graduated from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing, St. Louis, Missouri, on August 25, 1955. She worked at the Missouri Baptist Psychiatric Unit, Shriners Hospital for Children in the operating room and clinics, Veterans Hospital in the operating room, Boone Hospital as Director of Surgery and Anesthesia, and Missouri Department of Health as the Inspector of Medical Facilities.  Respected in her field, she wholeheartedly enjoyed her work and published in nursing journals. Her nursing career continued 46 years until her retirement in 2001.

A devoted mother of four daughters, LaVerne was very spunky and liked to laugh and have fun, never complaining. Sharing a special bond with her sisters and brothers, LaVerne was a woman of love and her family was the apple of her eye. Steadfast in her beliefs, she was an encourager, a generous person, and the backbone of her family. She accepted Christ at a young age and later journeyed the Walk to Emmaus. Her pastimes included, quilting, gardening, listening to bluegrass music, and traveling (with her favorite destination being the Smokey Mountains). Respected and loved by many, LaVerne will be dearly missed.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her mother, Glena Mae Voyles; grandparents: Andrew and Mary Moyer, and Elmer “Pa” and Frances “Granny” Mackley; brothers: Davey Lee Voyles, Donald W. Voyles and Dickie Voyles; and sisters, Judith “Jude” Hunter and Barbara J. Voyles.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Terry Hatridge; daughters: Mona Lynn (Martin) Greening of Columbia, Missouri, Deborah “Debbie” Jean (Brad) Dobbs of Nowata, Oklahoma, Tami “Tiger” Hatridge of Alexandria, Virginia, and Patricia “Patty” Michele Taylor of Alexandria, Virginia; sisters: Patsy (Bob) Charboneau of North Carolina, and Diana (David) Gross of Park Hills, Missouri; grandchildren: Patricia “Tricia” Hatridge and Andrew Dobbs; grandniece, Megan Saunders; grandnephew, Dustin Saunders; and many other family and friends.

A memorial service will be 1:00 PM, June 16, 2018, at Hope Fellowship Church, in Branson West, Missouri, with Pastor Bruce Edwards officiating.
