Donald “Don” Ralph Horton, age 87, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019. He entered this life June 16, 1931, in Madison, Indiana, the son of Edward and Francis (Litson) Horton. His parents and a brother, William Robert Horton have preceded him in death. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Don proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Midway during the Korean War. He enjoyed flying small planes, fishing, and being with his family. His job had him moving all over the country, sometimes multiple times a year. He always made sure the family knew about the area where they had moved. Don was dedicated in his work but loved his family more, making sure they were well taken care of wherever they moved. He was sometimes seen as a “grumpy old man,” and he took pride in his title. All who knew him loved him, and he will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Honey Horton; son, William (Sherrie) Horton of Nixa, Missouri; son, Daniel (Christina) Horton of Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Jane (Richard) Weixelbaum of Parkville, Missouri; grandchildren: Zach, Ben, Mike, Jace, Jack, Alana, and R.J.; great-granddaughter, Ava Jane; and brother, Jerry Horton of Madison, Indiana.
