John Fredrick Gillihan, age 71, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away at home September 10, 2018. He was born July 12, 1947, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of James and Frances (Dean) Gillihan. John was joined in marriage February 16, 1991, to Evelyn Warren. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

John proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked for 20 years as a correctional officer for the California Department of Corrections. After retirement, John and Evelyn moved to Harrison. A hard worker, he was well respected and loved his work as a correctional officer. John was honest and had a wonderful smile, a contagious laugh, and a great personality. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and dancing. In his later years, John was the Sergeant at Arms for his trike club in Harrison. He will be missed by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lavern “Jack” Clayton Yates; and two sisters, Judy Marie Riddle and Jolene Jill Davis.

John is survived by his wife of  27 years, Evelyn Gillihan of the home; daughter, Enna (Brian) Maniaci of Bradenton, Florida; son, Johnny Gillihan of Bellingham, Washington: four grandchildren, Shylee, Seth, Steven and Trevor; son, Keith Clinton Maine of Indiana; grandson, K.C. Paul Maine; two sisters, Jane Lee and Jan Gillihan, both of Oroville, California; two brothers, Jim (Debra) Gillihan of Watts, Oklahoma, and Jeff Gillihan of Troy, New York; as well as several nieces and nephews.
